The surveillance devices we have voluntarily chosen—our smart devices—track our every movement, voice, glance, and touch. The algorithms that power them have become better than us at satisfying our supposed desires, yet they also fulfil our deepest fears.
Psychopolitical reward and control systems are reflected in somatic processes involving tissues, organs, and the body, as well as in the artist’s performance.
In this theatrical production, which combines stand-up comedy with the psychopolitics of Elon Musk and Byung-Chul Han, Jan Rozman, like many men in crisis, embarks on a journey of self-discovery. He asks himself, “What is it about me that makes me never feel good enough?”
Jan Rozman (born 1991) is a freelance performer and choreographer based in Ljubljana and Berlin. His artistic practice explores extended bodies, the semiotics of materials and textures, gaps, errors and confusion, ecology, imagination, science fiction, and humour. Through this exploration, he seeks to create performative articulations relevant to the post-internet/Anthropocene era.
The Emanat Institute for the Development and Promotion of Dance and Contemporary Art was founded in 2006 by the choreographer, dancer, and pedagogue Maja Delak.
