Founded in Gorizia in 1987 by Walter Mramor, co-op a.ArtistiAssociati boasts a diversified range of activities, such as theatrical productions, theatre management, and programmes catered to the younger generations.
Since the beginning of the 2000s, the company decided to take a new path by promoting dance at the regional level. In 2006, after receiving recognition by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, a.ArtistiAssociati launched the first Dance Circuit in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Since 2015, this activity has been part of the new FVG Multidisciplinary Circuit, managed by ERT, the Regional Body for Theatrical Productions, an organisation we still collaborate with in the field of dance distribution throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia.
It was indeed our commitment towards the art of dance and our long-gained expertise that led to our cooperative being chosen to organize the 4th edition of NID Platform, the most important event aimed at supporting the best of dance production in Italy. In October 2017, Gorizia and Nova Gorica hosted 20 shows, two panel discussions, and several collateral events. It also saw the participation of over 400 Italian and international professionals.
Now, with the VISAVÌ Gorizia Dance Festival, we embark on a new stage – a new path that sees our company develop towards a broader European feel, while strengthening its role as a permanent cultural centre.
The name VISAVÌ Gorizia Dance Festival seeks to highlight the peculiar location of the festival and to communicate its push for openness. The term Visavì, from the French expression vis-à-vis, is widely used in Gorizia with the meaning: “in front of”. It implies a feeling of closeness, dialogue, and exchange that the festival aims to increase thanks to the universal language of dance.
