Have you been to Gorizia before?
Yes, I have been to Gorizia several times, it is a city that has welcomed me and where I’ve had the opportunity to develop my works. The first time I was there was about ten years ago, I was very young and I played the role of a local poet.
What do you look forward to doing again?
My latest production will make its debut at Visavì and I am looking forward to sharing the outcome of this year’s work.
What awaits you after Visavì?
The work has already stirred a lot of interest. After its debut, the tour of Cinque danze per il futuro will continue.
You have the power to do one thing to change the world of dance: what is it?
Rather than changing the world of dance, I would imagine a world with more dance, dance as a means of destroying barriers and creating bridges, dance to better welcome ourselves and others. As the famous Russian anarchist Pyotr Alexeyevich put it: “If we were able to put ourselves in the oth-er person's shoes, to the extent that we could feel the other person as if he or she were us, we would no longer need rules, because we would be acting according to the common feeling...”.
If you could give one piece of advice to yourself as a child, what would it be?
To keep dancing in the rain, even if you may get a cold.
And to a new dance company moving its first steps?
I think it is very important to try define the nature of your identity, a crucial element that allows you to establish a clearer relationship with your audience, and helps you to better cope with the practical difficulties that are part of this job.
Three words to describe what dance is to you.
Language, medium, possibility.
Tell me briefly what your show is about. Now convince me to come and see it :)
This last work focuses on the possibility of communicating on different levels. I tried to hit back at the last period by imagining five choreographic pictures projected on the five elements that I wouldn’t want to lose in the future: freedom, play, sharing, imagination, possession. On stage with me, a very good musician who plays the electric guitar with a bow, as if it were a double bass. You should really come and see it.
